Introducing the D-head, A "Patent Pending" Detuning System for Headless Guitars and Basses.
Works with Steinberger, Spirit, Klein and Moses
3-screw guitar and bass necks.
The D-head allows "headless" guitar players to drop tune the
Low E down to B and anywhere in between--Or--tune up to a pitch higher than E
and drop to your pre-set pitch. Once set, you have a simple turn of the
thumb-wheel to change between pitches so it can easily be done during a song if
you so desire. Here is what a SteinbergerWorld Yahoo! Group member had to
say: "Fantastic to use in
looping phrases (ala David Torn) , either looping chords and using the detuner
in real-time, or looping the detuner and comping chords in real-time. (Used my
Eventide H3000 and Line 6 rack for this).." The D-head is machined from Aircraft grade aluminum alloy
and hard-coat anodized black. The detuning mechanism is made of steel and black
oxide treated. The bearing is chrome plated hardened steel with a bronze ball
retaining cage. I would also like to thank a couple of friends along with
some new found friends for their expertise and knowledge of the headless guitar
which aided in the refinement of the D-head. Danny Bivins, which has been my
right-hand in the design stage and testing. David Beard for his testing with the
D-head and playing a Langley Guitar with his new and upcoming band, Unusable
Signal. (See
David on stage with a Langley Guitar) And last but not least, my new found
friends, Andy Yakubik and Michael Thomas. Without Andy and Michael, this project
would still be just a thought, they have been instrumental with testing and
finalizing the D-head and has helped me tremendously, not only with the D-head
but other coming projects and innovations for the headless world. A BIG thanks
to all.
